Crochet Inspiration and Free Patterns from Karla’s Making It

Hi All!

I’m really excited to be working in my new office. I still know where everything is and the place is shaping up. How did I get so much stuff?!?!

What have ya’ll been working on lately? I have taken a break from the Madeline Rug to start some Christmas Crocheting. I want to finish a blanket for my wee one, as I have never made her one (I know!!).

So far I have been frustrated with it and frogged it several times. I had a vision of lovely panels of Tunisian stitches joined together to make a more knit like fabric and a squishy blanket… but, yeah… It is on time out for a few hours!

Also, I was thinking I would like to make either ornaments or snowflakes to give as gift toppers this year. I don’t usually give crochet items for Christmas. I never know if people actually like the stuff or they have it in a box all year and when I visit they take it out. I don’t want to be that family member, you know? So a gift topper it is.

Well I have some inspiration for you today. Just to get in the Christmas spirit, I recommend making and wearing this Silly Simple Elf Hat from Convivial Crafter.

Aren’t these stocking fabulous! I think I would add a little lace either around the top or and the bottom of the ribbing. Totally cute. I love the ribbed top and the shell texture! We can thank Crafts Unleashed for this free pattern!

Caterpillar Square Crochet Pattern

Petals to Picots came out with a new square. She calls it the Caterpillar Square Crochet Pattern. I hope she makes a whole blanket.  I would like to see that.  Very clever.

365 Days of Granny Squares with Nadia Fuad

Speaking of squares!! Nadia Fuad is wrapping up her 365 days of Granny Squares! If you can’t find a square there you like then… I don’t know, I guess start knitting. (yeah, I said it – j/k).  But seriously, you should go check out her page.

I was inspired by these two scarves. Aren’t they so pretty.  Both I could see in a basic crochet stitches. One has fringe and the other has nice color changes, and they are both very very nice.  I have some yarn to make the blue one. pfft – who am I kidding, I have enough yarn to make both 🙂 But time is what I lack.

How about you? Do you get to make all the crochet projects you want? I wish!

Make it a beautiful day,

Crochet Inspiration from Karla’s Making It

Hello My Crochet Friends!! I have missed you.

Moving is soooooo much work, isn’t it? Well we are moved into our new place and guess what? I have the BEST office/craft room EVER!! I am SO SO excited about this space

I have been working on this blog from my bedroom in a small apartment and now we are finally all in a house! We have room to breath… and crochet! HA HA

I haven’t touched the rug in a whole week! I know some of you are plugging along but I haven’t heard that anyone is up to part 4 yet. I will be working on it this week so I will have more rounds up very soon!

Anyway, even though I have been super busy, I have still been finding some crochet inspirations for us…

Check out these finds!

Modern Victoria Quilt

This is a quilt! Can you believe it? I love the different patterns with different frames all different sizes. What do you think? I would love to design an afghan around this. That would be a good way to get rid of some stash!! random squares and rectangles to join together. Very interesting…

Where is your favorite place to find crochet inspiration? While I post crochet inspiration here for you, personally, I check out sources other than crochet for inspiration. I will look at home decor, fashion, and baby trends to create something new and exciting.

I am in LOVE with this border. Isn’t it darling? I have saved it everywhere so that if I EVER finish my granny square blanket, I can use this border.  It is a free pattern that is available on Ravelry from BabyLove Brand. I would love to see this with other square patterns.  If you use this, post a pic on my Facebook Page.

Check out this dress! Stunning! So much work went into this I’m sure. I love the texture and the different layers. Definitely a beauty! Those ruffles and quite interesting. I like the different stitches down the dress.

(Dear Lord give me the endurance and stick-to-it-ivness to complete something this beautiful someday… thanks, Karla)

I have been wanting to make a panel blanket for some time.  I started a few (blushing) but could never stick with it. It takes soooooo looooong to make that many panels. Do you get bored on larger projects? What do you do to stay motivated?

Ok my friends, I need to get back to crocheting. I’ve got that rug I’m working on and a new blanket for my wee one. She has wanted a blanket for the longest time. Hopefully, I will finish this one for her! lol

Make it a Beautiful Day,
