WordPress Hacks: How to easily change the font size and color of text in WordPress
I love the WordPress platform – no doubt about it. And so do many others. I read recently that over half of the top bloggers use WordPress. It is very user friendly, and THE best platform for a beginner blogger (like me) and seasoned bloggers alike.
BUT – did you know, if you learn just a little bit of HTML, you can take your pages to a whole new level?
Have you ever wanted to increase your font size and text color in your wordpress posts?Perhaps you have a few lines of text that you want to stand out.
Making these changes are easier than you think. Here we go…
In your WordPress dashboard, start a new post. Notice that in the typing screen there are two tabs, one says Visual and the other says Text.
Most bloggers type and add images in the visual box (see below).
If you bring up one of your old blog posts in the editing pane, and switch to the text view, instead of seeing just text and photos, you see only text and a bunch of code in HTML language.
That is where you can edit your font, in Text view.
To edit your font in the text view, click the text tab and type the following code in the box:
Now stop there. Click the visual tab or the preview button and look at the text. What you should see is:
Your piece of text
If you don’t see those words, then you did not type the text properly or you typed it into the visual screen. Now we will increase the size of the text and make it pink. Go back to the text tab and type the following code:
Click the visual tab or the preview button and look at the text. What you should see is:
Your piece of text.
See, isn’t that easy?? The colors are defined using a hexadecimal (hex) notation. The hex code for the pink I used above is #ff33ff. This website, http://www.w3schools.com/, has a list of colors available to use on the web.
Now go pretty up those posts!!
What is the first post you are going to use your new programming knowledge on??
