Here’s how you can Square up your Princess Mandala

Ok, so you are starting with a circle with 96 stitches.  If you haven’t verified your count, I would now, then add or delete stitches as needed.

Special Stitches

  • Htr: (Half Treble Crochet) Yarn over (Yo)  twice and put hook through stitch. Yo and pull through 1 loop. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Yo and pull through 3 loops.
  • Tr: (Treble Crochet) Yarn over twice and put hook through stitch. Yo and pull through 1 loop. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Yo and pull through 2 loops.
  • Hqc: (Half Quad Crochet – I made up this name and for the purposes of getting this out quickly, I will be changing the name asap) Yo 3 and put hook through stitch Yo and pull through 1 loop. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Yo and pull through 2 loops. Yo and pull through 3 loops.

Instructions

Make a Standing Hdc in any stitch. Hdc in the next 2 sts. Dc in the next 2 stitches. Htr in the next 2 stitches. Tr in the next 2 stitches. 2 Hqc, Ch 2, 2 Hqc in the next st. Tr in the next two stitches. Htr in the next two stitches. Dc in the next two stitches., Hdc in the next 3 sts. Sc in the next 5 sts. Repeat this pattern making Hdc in next 3 sts. (108 sts & 4 Ch 2 spaces)

For the next row, I made Hdc in 26 Sts and 2 Hdc, ch 2, 2 Hdc in the corners.
